Reading for Pleasure Group 2

The Monday Book Club has recently been reading Kafka on the Shore – translated from Japanese into English I hasten to add. The group were divided on the enjoyment in reading this book and realised just how different their culture is. Singing for Pleasure

The group has achieved yet another successful year, from January up to the summer break, performing two concerts in June for the Trefoil guild and the Harlow Friendship Club. We were very proud to be asked to sing at the Royal Hall in May as part of its 110th anniversary. We sang a variety of music, giving two performances.

In December we are presenting another Christmas concert in aid of Parkinson’s UK. Watch this space for details.

Tai Chi

This is very suitable for those who wish to have a slightly slower pace of exercise. It is excellent for balance, memory and reduces stress which benefits blood pressure and the heart. It is an excellent all round exercise with the session lasting for one hour. The 10 week autumn term starts on Thursday 19th September from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, and takes place at the Jennyfield Styan Hall, on Grantley Drive. There is ample parking close to the hall or opposite in the Co-op car park and there is a frequent bus service. The group has been taken from its inception by Breffni Groome, who is a qualified instructor. Please contact Val Cooke email: for more information.
