We have been having a very busy time finishing our wall hanging. This is now in position at Harlow Hill Methodist Church Hall and we have received many compliments on it.
It consists of 35 cords about 45 inches long, wrapped with silk or velvet in shades of blue, turquoise, deep red and green and then overwrapped again with metallic and novelty threads. After this, various decorations were added: some of these were tiny needlepoint cushions, shapes in metallic fabric, curtain rings buttonholed with threads. Then tassels made of silk and beads were fixed to the lower edges both for appearance and to give some weight.
We shan't be able to bring it to the AGM as it's now fixed on the wall but it was on show at one of the talks at the Cairn earlier in the year and there will be a large photo of it on our exhibition table.
So what next ? Well some of us are having a go at patchwork and we've also made covered
notice boards and book-
The next two meetings will see demonstrations of silk paper and marbling. There is going to be a challenge project in the autumn but I'm keeping that a secret till the time!
I have two vacancies -
