Competition

Three members submitted 14 entries in our competition to write a Haiku.

So....

Haiku entries were
Few in number. A Pity.
Some are printed here.

From Neil Close:

On being vertically challenged.

Darling, think this through
Life is short and so are you
Not much one can do!

(winner)

Cat

My Tom sleeps by day.
He hunts most nights, sometimes fights.
That's just Tom Cat's way.
_____

From Pauline Nolan:

Science Fiction

Saucers flying round
Martians in their wake abound
Searching for outposts

Boxing clever

Their feet prance and dance
The ropes are taut, the ring square
Avoiding the punch.
______

From Joan Tickle:

The angle of repose

Life peaks, then slips, slides;
Settling, crumbling 'til movement
Is invisible.

For our next competition, here are the beginnings of well-known proverbs. Complete them to reflect 21st Century thinking. To start you off, some 6 year olds came up with the following:
No news is........impossible; Better late than ....pregnant!

1. A miss is as good as.............
2. Two's company, three's..........
3. A bird in the hand is...............
4. Better late than......................
5. Children should be seen and........
6. Where there's smoke there's.........
7. Strike while the ..........................
8. Don't bite the hand that..................
9. No news is..................................
10. If at first you don't succeed.........

No prizes except the pleasure of seeing the winner's efforts in print.
