Groups in Crisis
The following groups may be unable to continue at present either from inability to recruit replacement group leaders or lack of sufficient support to be economic.
This group is stopping as numbers have dropped, and is not financially viable. There will probably be an attempt to restart in the autumn.
The Healthy Cooking and Vegetarian Cooking Groups were merged in the hope that this might provide sufficient numbers to keep costs at a reasonable level.
A decision must shortly be made on whether it is feasible to continue as the room costs are quite high and there need to be about 12 attending regularly.
John Kendal is stepping down as Chairman following the June meeting after about 5 years since taking the position on a "temporary basis". The group has successfully run for many years mostly under the auspices of Sheena Pawson.
Now they need a new Chairman.
The "Speaker Booking Secretary" Elizabeth Johnson is also retiring after a long successful spell.
The group has attracted around 20 members per meeting and we hope it will continue. Anyone who might help should contact John Kendal at jckendal@btinternet.com or at a Science meeting.
The remaining meeting organised is:-
15th June -
This started late in May due to Bank Holidays and Local Elections held at Jennyfield. It will continue until 21st July for the usual ten week term. The course continues to be taken by Breffni and costs £45 per term.
Tai Chi at Bilton has closed due to reduced numbers. The same fate may well happen
to the Jennyfield group and I very much hope that members of Harrogate U3A will come
along and join in. The day is Thursday, time 3.30pm -
