For details of all groups, members should consult the group activities sheet issued to them.

Only those groups submitting news items will appear in these columns

Submission of Group Details to Secretary

New and existing group leaders are reminded that in July details of group activities for the year starting in September should be sent to the Secretary for inclusion in the AGM mailing that is dispatched in August. The Treasurer likes to receive the group accounts at the same time.

New, Proposed or Discontinued Groups

New Square Dance Group

Are there U3A members out there who love to dance?  New member, John Kozyra, wants to start a Square Dance group.  It will probably meet at Woodlands Methodist church hall in Wetherby Road, Harrogate, on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

This type of square dance is easy on the pace – about walking speed.  The British Heart Foundation recommends it as very good for cardio-vascular exercise.  You don’t need to bring a partner.

So look out your dancing shoes and contact   to ask for more information.  We need a minimum of 12 to run the group.  If enough people get in touch soon the group could start straight away; otherwise John plans to begin in September

New Line Dancing Group

The line dancing group got off to a good start with 38 members on the roll. Normally about 20 people attend on a regular basis. There is a charge on the door of £4 a lesson to cover the tuition and venue.

The group meets on Thursdays at the Manhattan Club off Hookstone Road from 2pm to 3.30pm

Unfortunately there has been insufficient interest to make this group financially viable. There will be an

interest list at the AGM.
