Backgammon

Would it be possible to start a backgammon club for people who play to a good level but find difficulty in finding opponents of a similar ability? There are only two functioning backgammon clubs in Yorkshire and they meet spasmodically. Anyone interested could email me and if there is sufficient interest we could act on it.

Many thanks

Pete Baldwin

Lifelong Learning Suggestion

What's it all about?

Most of us have been left behind by advancing technology and the myriad  products which are now part of modern living, iplayer/MP4 player, ipod/MP3 players, iphone, podcast, mobile phone, camera, video, bluetooth, ebook, digital tv / radio, HDMI, DVD recording, home cinema, Facebook, YouTube, Blackberry, GPS, blog, twitter/tweet , WIFI etc.,

Most of these items do not impinge on the activities of U3A Groups , so does it matter? Failure to keep up with 'progress’ may restrict our  access to knowledge and communications with others; to our grandchildren we may appear quaint as we become increasingly marginalised and irrelevant .

Life Long Learning as promoted by the U3A offers an opportunity to keep in touch and I am suggesting that those members who share these feelings should form a group, or a sub-group, where individuals research different topics before explaining and demonstrating to the rest of us. If you are interested in this idea, please contact me, by email at .
