Painting Group Activities
The members of this large group have continued to have a very active time – both in their creative activity and on our painting holidays.
The subjects for our paintings have been very varied – from “A Dry Stone Wall in Snow” to “A Wide Expanse of Wet Sand” We also managed to produce exciting work based on “The artist’s table-top” in which tubes of paint and jam-jars with water cast fascinating shadows to prove that there is ART to be found in ordinary objects!
A large group of us visited the Mercer Gallery recently to view the wonderful pictures produced by the Society of Pastel Artists. These are still uppermost in our minds as we work on paintings inspired by this visit.
Twenty of us have just returned from a painting holiday on Loch Awe that was enjoyable and a success, with many members producing sketches and paintings and taking photos. These will now be the basis for our current work.
Further painting holidays are in the planning stage – perhaps Barcelona in the Autumn and Venice again in the Spring – although the rate of exchange with the euro is a cause for concern! Meantime, our next outing will be to Whitby at the beginning of June.
