The Open Day and AGM – The Chairman’s Perspective.
“The Open Day and AGM” was a great success. Congratulations and thank you to all involved.
The Groups put on a superb show enjoyed by all, and one that clearly no potential new member could resist. At the end of the day the membership stood at 815.
The AGM was attended by 139 members plus the Committee. Four current committee members namely Eileen Davies, Betty Travena, Lee Parkes and Roger Wilkins agreed to stand for re-election, and were elected “en bloc”. Gordon Darlington retired after three years on the Committee, and Gill Sellers was not able to stand for re-election. Both have worked hard on behalf of the membership. Two of the vacancies on the Committee were filled by Angela Sansam and Ruth Townrow; Angela and Ruth are also Group Leaders.
Three members agreed to come along to a Committee Meeting with a view to possibly being co-opted at a later date. Gordon Darlington offered to come out of retirement to serve a further year! Hopefully by the time that you read this we will have a full Committee.
At a presentation at the end of the meeting to mark the retirement of Daphne Fisher and Sheena Pawson as Group Leaders they were thanked for their outstanding contribution to Harrogate U3A over many years, and welcomed as Honorary Members.
