Group News cont’d

Singing for  Pleasure

Owing to the influx of newcomers this Autumn, it is not practical for me to accept any more members into the Ladies’ Group at the moment.

The Mixed Group is also full, unless there is that elusive experienced tenor out there somewhere. Out of more than 800 members, surely there’s ONE! I will review the situation next year but just now we need to concentrate on our Christmas commitments.

Tai Chi

For those who are undecided about Tai Chi but would like to try it - I am offering a package of 5 sessions for £20 starting in November on either Tuesday 11 or Monday 17th, OR 4 sessions for £16, starting on either Tuesday 18th, or Monday 24th. Held on Tuesdays at Jennyfield Styan Centre and on Mondays at St John's Church Hall, Bilton.  Note that these are parallel groups.

If you are interested please contact me by email:

Textile Crafts

Our group has had a good “summer” and we’re now starting a new session. This will include collages and wall-hangings in addition to continuing with work  already in hand. We are also starting a new project which includes faking old documents – no, we’re not planning to indulge in any criminal activities! Faking or “distressing” uses various techniques to give the appearance of ageing and we hope to have fun with these.

We all enjoyed the AGM where visitors commented favourably on our collection of mazes. It’s so interesting that a common project and design can be interpreted in so many different ways.

It was nice to meet old friends there and, hopefully, to make new ones.

We meet at Harlow Hill Methodist Church off Otley Road monthly on Mondays, 2 – 4 pm .The next one will be November 24th and I have 3 vacancies.
