Textile Crafts (Julie Clark)
WE’RE  AMAZING !  No, this isn’t the Textile Crafts Group being bigheaded but relates to the fact that we are all sewing mazes.
In May, members were given a pattern of a maze  but also encouraged to draw their own – which is more difficult than you might think. They were asked to ornament these with their own choice of background fabric, threads and stitches. We hope to exhibit them at the AGM in September so please come along and see how we’ve done.
What else have we been doing? The answer is a mixture of techniques. The goldwork enthusiasts have done a flower design for a book-cover and also a 3D rosette while others in the group have experimented with crewel work. Others have finished the beadwork from our workshop session and have some very pretty necklaces to show as a result of that and some of us have just started on patchwork bowls.
The work we do is adapted to the degrees of ability – and eyesight – among us. It’s interesting to see the same project interpreted in so many different ways with the common factor being the enthusiasm of our members.
