Climate
Dilemma in the potting shed
What have all the prophets said
Cold or hot, dry or wet
Shall we risk another bed.
Which seeds will germinate
Perhaps re-
Think climate, can we say
What will the weather bring to day.
The twice flowered shrubs and late crops
Have joyed in the sun after many raindrops
Now unprepared for Winter's bite
The dark and chilly, frosty nights.
Consider well our petty fuss
Too hot, too dry, too wet, great floods.
Gone vital foods in poor countries
No money can replace the grief and hunger on every face.
Who will weep when London drowns
In waters cold from icy floes.
Eastern town and counties gone,
Fields like broads with spits for birds.
Not just Britain but globally
Misery spreads around the world.
Curb, we must, our own excesses
To save the lives of all processes.

U3A friends I am thinking about organising a "Special Old Time Concert" with the "Harrogate Concert Party" to raise funds for the St Michael`s Hospice, which is always in need of money and support for the wonderful work that it does. The concert would be in May and probably at the Trinity Methodist Church Hall. Before making any further moves with the idea however I would like to see what sort of support there would be from U3A members. The "Harrogate Concert Party" has a fine 22 year long record of giving quality entertainment and has raised much money for charitable causes including St Michael`s, Guide Dogs, Amnesty International and the North Yorkshire Playing Fields Association. For the record HCP entertainment consists of songs from the shows, a Bull n Bush singalong all tinged with humour.
