Web site notice.
I have added 2 new features to the web site which I hope you will find useful and
to which I hope you will contribute. They are both up and running and can be accessed
from the homepage on the web site.
1. WHAT’S ON is a diary of Harrogate U3A events. If I am provided with the information,
it will show the time and activity of group meetings and other events.
2. !CHATTERBOX! is an open information page covering items of interest which can
be outside the U3A activities. Email u3a.harrogate@googlemail.com with all your letters
and jokes, and ramblings, complaints, plaudits and recommendations, articles for
sale, wants and wishes. Have a look at it.
Email Address
About 250 members can now be contacted by email. However there are a number of members
who have not provided their current email address or whose address is not accepted.
If you have not received this message by email, you are likely to be one of them.
Please email u3a.harrogate@googlemail with up to date address.
The views expressed here are my own and not necessarily those of the committee.
Many thanks to all the contributors. Please keep up the good work.
Do I have the content balance right? Should there be less “Education, education, education” and a little more “Fun, fun, fun”. What do you think?
Routine ‘Around the Groups” entries should perhaps be limited to 200 words with separate longer articles for events which are out of the ordinary, or of special interest or importance. Someone would of course have to submit the
appropriate article. Photo group report is longer following change of leader.
I have set up a Stray News web site at www.stray-news.org.uk but there is a link from the Harrogate U3A web site as before.

They do lunches and "early bird" evening meals. 2 courses £12.99 and three courses £16.50 all superbly cooked food, with six choices of starters and six of main courses and three of desserts. Pasta is al dente and vegetables, mostly roasted, yummie! Seafood to choose from, meat dishes and one vegetarian dish. Best homemade minestrone soup I have tasted! It comes with a glass of wine.
Elegant surroundings with linen tablecloths and linen napkins, candles, the lot.
It is a short flight downstairs, straight across from the Mercer Gallery.
The restaurant run by Barnardos to provide training for young people with special needs is on the Knaresborough Road. Tel 01423 884819, Fax 01423 889722. Hours Mon-Friday: 9 - 3 p.m..
The food is excellent, they do very good lunches and have a licence!
There is also a Take Away service of hot and cold sandwiches, jacket potatoes, toasties, snacks and hot and cold drinks.
One can also drop in for a coffee and a cake or snack any time. It’s on the left just before the hospital turning (Lancaster Park Road) if going towards Knaresborough from Harrogate.
