We go to the theatre at least once a month depending on what is on, using public transport to attend matinees in Leeds and York and cars when going to Harrogate. This year we have seen a wide variety of productions. These have included Dylan Thomas’s Return Journey, John Godber’s Perfect Pitch and Ballet Ireland’s interpretation of Die Fledermaus at Harrogate. At Leeds Grand we have seen High Society, Northern Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty and Agatha Christie’s The Unexpected Guest. At The West Yorkshire Playhouse we have seen To Kill a Mocking Bird, The Sunshine Boy and plays by Shakespeare.
There will be a new programme in the Autumn and possible visits include The History Boys, Blood Brothers, and Brief Encounter.

The group is now in its third year. Most people in the group are not vegetarians but that does not lessen their enjoyment of the delicious three course meals we cook every month.
My purpose in starting the group was to show how varied and exciting vegetarian food can be.

Once more we've had a very enjoyable and productive 'term'. Currently on our summer break, we start again on 3rd September 07.
Wendy, one of our members, has done a magnificent job in producing an anthology of some of our work. The booklet has 32 pages of short stories and poems, and covers a wide range of subjects. Inevitably 'age' crops up of course. Words like maturity; memories; granddad; old age; growing old; are all in there, but so are imagination; advantages; celebration; new start; and light hearted; - and that is only the 'Contents' page! Although the anthology was initially produced for distribution among the members, there will be a few for sale at Askham Bryan in August at £1-50p (any profits to go to charity).Or perhaps you could contact any member of our group at the AGM in September.

I dare you to try this!
A feisty 70 year-old woman had to call the electric company for a repairman.
After a quick inspection, Al, the man from the power company found the
problem and handed her a $70 bill for labour.
"Labour charges! One hour?" she exclaimed. "It only took you five minutes!"
Al explained that his company had a minimum one-hour charge on every house
call.
"Well, I want my remaining 55 minutes of labour," the lady responded, and
she handed him a rake.
Al spent the next 55 minutes in her yard bagging leaves.
